We have an immediate opening for a Production Specialist responsible for warehousing activities while adhering to safety, quality, and food safety standards set by Roadrunner Food Bank. The Production Specialist will handle both dry and frozen product and may be exposed to cold temperatures for extended periods of time. The specialist will participate in all functions of the production department including sorting, pallet building, stocking, and leading teams of volunteers to complete projects in dry goods, produce, and bread. This position will also assist the team in maintenance and upkeep of warehouse facilities and equipment to ensure a sanitary and safe work environment.

Teamwork                                                                            

  • Works is all areas of the production departments (Bread, Produce, Dry Goods, Cooler freezer, Assist Farmers)
  • Assist other production employees in completing projects in assigned area 1 day
  • Completes daily/weekly/monthly cleaning logs        
  • Cleans up after spills  
  • Keeps a clean workspace/ cleans all tools used in department

Stocking                                                                                  

  • Ensures proper movement of cold storage product
  • Utilizes barcoding hardware/software
  • Ensures items are stocked in the proper sequence determined by production department
  • Verifies accuracy of put-aways
  • Performs stocking in dry, refrigerated, and frozen back stock

Product Sorting                                                        

  • Ensures products are sorted according to production standard Operating procedures
  • Ensures product is disposed of properly
  • Ensures proper steps are followed when giving food waste to Farmers

Food Safety                                                                           

  • Handles food product according to Adheres to food Safety guidelines and standards set by RRFB
  • Properly disposes of product not fit for human consumption according to production Standard Operating Procedures
  • Properly labels pallets with receiving dates
  • Follows First In First Out procedures when handling perishable foods

Volunteer Coordination                                                        

  • Provides clear and simple instructions so volunteers can understand their job duties 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers
  • Leads volunteer projects for each area of production based on department needs

Inventory                                                                     

  • Completes the monthly item, pallet and physical inventory count
  • Ensures proper rotation of cold storage product
  • Reports discrepancies daily
  • Ensures all product is weighed and dated before being put away
  • Other duties as required
  • Records all trash weight
  • Records all weight given to farmers

Qualifications  

  • Must possess communication and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Independent decision-making skills
  • Able to complete Forklift safety training within 30 days of hire
  • Able to train with and use electric ride-on pallet jack

Preferred Qualifications

  • G.E.D or High School Diploma
  • Forklift experience
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Prior work experience in a Production Setting

Employment Requirements

  • Negative Drug Screen
  • Successful Background Clearance
  • Must maintain a 40 hour per week work schedule

Physical Environment

  • Able to work in cold environment with proper protective equipment (-11 degrees)
  • Typically Warehouse or Cold Storage areas
  • Ability to move throughout the building
  • Lifting or moving up to 100 pounds repetitively for purposes of fulfilling orders
  • Able to pull a pallet jack with a load up to 1000 lbs.
  • Long periods of standing and moving
  • Work will be both in and outdoors but can be subject to extreme temperatures in either environment
  • Moderate exposure to loud noise levels
