Scope of Work Overview: 

The Dietitian provides services under the New Mexico Medicaid Food Is Medicine (FIM) benefit for pregnant members with diabetes. This position designs, oversees, and documents medically tailored meals (MTM) and medically tailored grocery boxes (MTG) in compliance with Medicaid requirements. 

  Dietitian Will: 

  • Conduct nutritional assessments for referred Medicaid members and develop individualized meal plans 
  • Design medically tailored meals and grocery boxes that meet the unique nutritional requirements of pregnant members with diabetes 
  • Ensure all nutrition plans incorporate evidence-based guidelines, member preferences (cultural, religious, personal), and medically appropriate adjustments 
  • Track and report service delivery, including unsuccessful deliveries, in compliance with Medicaid reporting requirements 
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local food safety, health, sanitation, and licensure regulations 
  • Provide nutritional counseling, education, and referrals to supplemental programs such as SNAP and WIC, as appropriate 
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments utilizing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) for assigned patients 
  • Participate in planning and education of home nutrition support 
  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients 
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans based on patient needs and medical conditions 
  • Educate patients and families about dietary choices, food safety, and nutrition-related topics 
  • Stay updated on the latest research in dietetics and nutrition to provide evidence-based recommendations 
  • Maintain credentialing as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with active New Mexico licensure 
  • Enroll in YESNM as a Medicaid Provider (Type 346: Lodging, Meals) and meet taxonomy 174200000X for billing 
  • Remain compliant with all Medicaid provider requirements, including credentialing, billing, documentation, and audit requests 
  • Register with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA) 
  • The Dietitian is an independent contractor and is not to be considered an employee of RRFB. The Dietitian agrees to maintain professional liability insurance, appropriate licensure and registration and provide a copy to RRFB at beginning of contact. 

RRFB Will: 

  • Provide suitable workspace and applicable office supplies, make necessary records available and provide documentation of completion or prior recommendations to the Dietitian 
  • Designate a person as the Dietician’s supervisor 
  • Participate with the Dietitian in review of policies and procedures under the scope of work of this contract and future priorities 

Terms of Agreement 

  • The RRFB agrees to compensate at the rate of $___/hour for the hours spent working directly on the scope of work agreed on herein. This is a grant-funded independent contractor position.
  • An itemized bill will be submitted to RRFB at the end of each month with payment due by the 30th of the following month. Consultant services shall cease on day 31 until reimbursement is current 
  • Either party may cancel this agreement upon thirty (30) days of written notice
