Program Director
Job Description

Roadrunner Food Bank is searching for a Program Director to join our staff to lead and oversee our SeedCorps program. SeedCorps is an AmeriCorps program which engages people from all walks of life to serve our food insecure neighbors in New Mexico for terms that range from 3 to 11 months.
The Program Director leads all aspects of the SeedCorps AmeriCorps program at Roadrunner Food Bank. This position is responsible for strategy, fiscal oversight, and member experience and has a comprehensive understanding of how the SeedCorps program fits into overall Roadrunner strategy. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Grant Administration
- Oversee the completion, accuracy, and retention of SeedCorps grant related records
- Leads the process of annually reviewing and updating all SeedCorps policies, forms, and SOPs. Some examples include but are not limited to: Serve Site MOUs, Member Service Agreements, Member Handbook, Performance measure information, theory of change/logic model, financial processes, recruitment, onboarding, and orientation SOPs
- Ensure grant objectives are met through evaluation and assessment
- Submits monthly and year end narrative reports
- Leads the relationship between Roadrunner Food Bank and The Serve NM Commission
- Leads the writing and submission of the AmeriCorps grant
- Leads the annual monitoring evaluation
Strategic Planning
- As part of the Community Initiatives team, defines and communicates the strategic vision and mission for the Community Initiatives department (CID)
- Ensures the goals relating to SeedCorps Program support the accomplishment of the Food Bank’s mission
- Creates project plans and timelines for the SeedCorps program for 2 to 3 years into the future
- Annual meeting with Andrea and Development team on funding needs for the upcoming year(s)
- Provide data and info to the Development team on funding requests
- Prepares and delivers speeches, articles, reports, and business correspondence to communicate SeedCorps mission and vision
- Regularly participates in learning opportunities provided by Serve NM and Americas Service Commission (ASC) to stay up to date on AmeriCorps best practices and regulations
- Has a deep understanding of AmeriCorps programs and applies learnings to improving the SeedCorps program
Team Leadership
- Manages and coordinates project schedules effectively to ensure on-time delivery and completion of projects
- Ensures staff accountability in achievement of goals and objectives
- Hires team members with the capability, skill, temperament, and passion to implement goals, strategies, and policies successfully
- Invests time into staff development and professional growth to ensure a strong team
- Develops metrics for data-based decision making and accountability
Financial & Project Management
- Responsible for the high-level creation and tracking of the annual SeedCorps budget
- Leads the submission of monthly Periodic Expense Reports
- Leads the monthly finance meetings to review budgets, PER, and related items
- Attends AmeriCorps best practice trainings and does independent research to ensure all AmeriCorps financial practices remain compliant
- High level planning of what member year will look like including MSY needs, roles, etc.
- RRFB SeedCorps rep with other important stakeholder groups and partners
- Primary contact with CID pillar leads
- Primary contact with other RRFB Departments
- Provides oversight and support to the SeedCorps Program Manager on all project management duties
Service Site Relationship Management
- Leads the relationship with the PDOs in relation to the SeedCorps program
- Schedule and completes site training
- Responsible for high level communication with sites on yearly schedule, including meetings and graduation
- Manages the mid-term and end of term evaluations for external member placement
- Conduct site visits with some regularity
Member recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention
- Provides oversight and support to SC Program Manager in all aspects of recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of members
- Provides the high-level contact with the HR department
- Attends interviews and provides feedback on final member selection
- Does final check of National Service Criminal History Checks (NSCHC) and onboarding process
- Supports members through special situations including slot conversions, suspensions, and terminations
Required annual trainings, meetings, and conferences
- NSCHC training
- Attend AmeriCorps Summit (NM)
- Complete food safety training
- Complete Civil Rights training
- Trauma informed care training
- De-escalation training
- Attend AmeriCorps conventions- both regional and national
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the SeedCorps Program Manager and SeedCorps Response Team Coordinator and oversees the management of SeedCorps members and volunteers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education, social work, human services or a related area
- Three to five years experience managing staff and supervising AmeriCorps Members or other national service program positions
- Two years experience managing federal grants, budgets, and reporting
- Commitment to diversity, equity, equality and inclusion, and an ability to form strong rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information
- Experience serving in a National Service program with a preference for AmeriCorps
- Proven track record of exceptional organizational, administrative, problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple priorities
- Experience with group facilitation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and standard office equipment
- Ability to follow through on tasks with minimal supervision
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- Must demonstrate a passion for connecting disadvantaged communities to critical resources
- Must be willing to occasionally work evening and weekends
- Must be willing and able to be mobile outside of the office in interacting with the community and other partners
- Willingness to travel interstate from six to twelve times a year, including overnight stays in varied New Mexico communities
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be a New Mexico resident or willing to relocate
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree, preferably in education, social work, human services or a related area
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English
- Remote staff management experience
- Volunteer management experience preferred
- Experience with Tableau, Constituent Relationship Management (CRM), and physical inventory systems
- Ability to plan and facilitate successful community meetings or events
- Prior food banking experience

Physical Environment
- Generally performed in an office environment, but some inter-state external travel is required

- When in the field or participating in programmatic activities, may be exposed to extremes of weather (heat, wind, cold, precipitation, etc.)
