We are seeking a Food Safety Coordinator to join our Quality team in Albuquerque. This position represents Roadrunner Food Bank as a member of the food safety and quality team to provide oversight in ensuring that RRFB is compliant with all applicable regulations and standards set forth by all applicable regulatory authorities in addition to verifying accuracy with Food Bank record keeping. 

This is a non-exempt position; $18-22.00/hour DOE

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduled internal facility, process, procedure, and documentation audits to ensure compliance with AIB, Feeding America and local requirements 
  • Completes post inspection follow up including paperwork, re-inspections, and communication 
  • Identifies trends in compliance issues 
  • Helps to maintain any compliance templates and forms 
  • Identifies and mitigates food safety issues 
  • Acts as recall coordinator for the RRFB recall program and advises on program improvements as needed 
  • Performs product checks such as allergens and produce 
  • Works as a backup to the Food Safety and Clean Room OPS Manager to train staff and outside parties on food safety standards 
  • Using strong communication skills, provides Operations, Transportation and other departments feedback about any issues related to quality, compliance, inventory, etc. 
  • Use Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook to stay informed and communicate with others in the organization 
  • Provides excellent internal/external customer service 
  • Treats all stakeholders with respect and sets the same expectation with team members 
  • Responsible for all applicable compliance measures as indicated in the Feeding America Partner Food Bank Agreement Network Standards 
  • Helps to respond to all inquiries and complaints related to food safety and compliance in a timely and professional manner 
  • Leads by example and enforces safety as well as food safety policies 
  • Responsible for the food bank pest control program execution including pest sighting logs, trend analysis, and pest control device checks 
  • Facilitation of chemical audit and SDS maintenance 
  • Provide oversight of food bank warehouse cleaning program including deep cleaning and periodic activities 
  • Conducts Food Safety inspections of all incoming loads 
  • Facilitates outbound load inspection program 
  • Implements and maintains returned load inspections 
  • Conducts inspections of potentially infested or spoiled products 
  • Responsible for product inspection documents and trend analysis  
  • Assists in research projects and reports findings as needed 
  • Compiles data and reports for departmental analysis 
  • Participates in food bank committees as assigned 
  • Assists with interdepartmental activities as needed 
  • Orders supplies as needed 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may supervise volunteers and/or interns

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of proven work experience in a distribution or retail environment, preferably in the food industry, or a combination of education and experience that will provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

  • Must be able to document activities and organize completed forms, surveys, and project results.

  • Forklift Certification or capability to complete an OSHA forklift training program within 30-days of hire date.??? 

  • Previous experience using Microsoft Suite of applications (specifically Teams/Outlook)? 

  • Comfortable using technology including barcode scanners, data input and working with a product database.?? 

  • Manager Level Food Safety Training will be provided.?? 

  • Literacy skills required.?? 

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of successful warehouse experience? 

  • High School, GED or equivalent preferred but not required? 
  • Prior food handling experience and safety training (e.g. FIFO) 

  • Customer service experience a plus 

 Employment Requirements

  • Successful Background Clearance
  • Successful completion of ServSafe Food Manager course within 3 months of hire
  • Successful completion of Pesticide Applicators License within 3 months of hire and annual recertification
  • Occasional travel required to Las Cruces facility

 Physical Environment

  • Mix between office and warehouse
  • Ability to move throughout the building
  • Lifting or moving up to 50 pounds for purposes of filing, storage and inspecting product
  • Extensive work on computer with repetitive finger movement
  • Work will be both in and outdoors but can be subject to extreme temperatures in either environment
  • Moderate exposure to loud noise levels except when in warehouse environment
