Job Description
Position Overview
The Food and Fundraising Specialist is responsible for developing relationships with current donors and cultivating new partnerships with potential donors, specifically for food and fund drives. They will work to secure food and fund donations through community food drives aimed at schools, workplaces, faith communities, neighborhoods, and other social or business organizations. The Food and Fund Drive Coordinator will work collaboratively with RRFB staff (Development, Operations, and Volunteer departments) to explore existing donation approaches and establish new systems to increase donations and improve donor experiences. This role also supports donor events and community and fundraising activities as part of a collaborative marketing and communications team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Qualifies identified prospective and current fund and fund drive donors.
· Develops and executes food and fund drive plans such that groups are retained and/or upgraded in the future.
- Creates offers, proposals, and asks that will provide opportunities for other volunteerism based on the group/organization’s interests and passion for specific aspects of the mission.
· Meets established food-raising goals to support organizational needs. This includes building new seasonal campaigns and expanding donation avenues.
- Actively manages day-to-day relationships with food drive sponsors and prospects through various activities including meetings, phone calls, letters, reports, emails, timely responses to donor inquiries and acknowledgements of gifts.
- Create both digital media and printed materials pertaining to events (donor events, community and fundraising activities, food drives, etc.).
- Log contact reports to the donor database(s), seeking ways to streamline data and improve workflow inefficiencies.
- Develop standard operating procedures for receiving and recording collected food, working cross departmentally as lead.
- Determine when picking up food donations is feasible, either coordinating through Operations or personally in company vehicle.
- Assist in developing events by obtaining bids from vendors, ordering supplies, and researching vendor options and theme ideas to present to team.
- Work closely with Volunteer team to identify volunteer activities related to food drives and events.
- Assist in event setup and tear down, ensuring all materials are returned and inventoried.
- Passionately represents Roadrunner Food Bank’s mission, programs, and message with stakeholders and actively networks within the community to activate support behind our mission.
- Performs other food raiser/development activities as may be required (i.e., tours, public speaking, or spokesperson activities).
- Serves as a community ambassador/spokesperson as needed.
Position Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years professional work experience with 2 or more years working in nonprofit development, events, community relations, or other related field.
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating and soliciting prospects for donations.
- Self-starter, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience in database maintenance, entering and maintaining accurate records in specialized digital platform. (Salesforce experience a plus.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom).
- Comfortable working in digital media platforms such as e-newsletter mail systems, project management programs, photo storage banks, and graphic design tools. Will train on specific platforms.
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and customer service skills; comfortable with public speaking.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to clearly articulate RRFBB’s mission.
- Ability to relate effectively and professionally with other staff, volunteers, agency representatives, and the public.
