Title: Food & Fund Drive Coordinator

FLSA Status: Full-Time Hourly Position 

Pay: $20-$22/hour (based on experience)

Reports to: Events & Communications Manager

 

A Note from the Hiring Manager: Come support food and fundraising events of all sizes at Roadrunner Food Bank! In this role you will coordinate with donors, vendors, and volunteers; create both written and graphic materials such as letters, invitations, flyers, and presentations; and collaborate with staff on project planning, including calendar and budget considerations. 

Description

The Food and Fund Drive Coordinator is responsible for developing relationships with current donors and cultivating new partnerships with potential donors, specifically for food and fund drives, donor events, and community and fundraising activities. This position will work to secure donated food and funds through community food drives aimed at schools, workplaces, faith communities, neighborhoods, and other social or business organizations. They will work collaboratively with RRFB staff (development, operations, and volunteer departments).

Duties include, but are not limited to, personal meetings, tours, food and fund drive engagement events, other methods of cultivating food drive partnerships, creating digital assets and printed materials such as postcards, flyers, web and social media items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Qualifies identified prospective and current fund and fund drive donors
  • Creates and executes food and fund drive plans such that groups are retained and/or upgraded in the future
  • Creates offers, proposals, and asks that will provide opportunities for other volunteerism based on the group/organization’s interests and passion for specific aspects of the mission
  • Meets established food raising goals to support organizational needs
  • Actively manages the day-to-day relationships with food drive sponsors and prospects through various activities including meetings, phone calls, letters, reports, emails, timely responses to donor inquiries and acknowledgements of gifts
  • Create both digital media and printed materials pertaining to events (donor events, community and fundraising activities, food drives, etc.)
  • Log contact reports to the donor database(s)
  • Work closely with Operations team to develop standard operating procedures for receiving and recording collected food
  • Determine when pickup is required and feasible, sometimes personally picking up donations in company vehicle
  • Assist in developing events by obtaining bids from vendors, ordering supplies, and researching vendor options and theme ideas to present to team
  • Work closely with Volunteer team to identify volunteer activities related to events
  • Assist in event setup and tear down, ensuring all materials are returned and inventoried
  • Passionately represents Roadrunner Food Bank’s mission, programs, and message with stakeholders and actively networks within the community to activate support behind our mission
  • Performs other food raiser/development activities as may be required (i.e., tours, public speaking, or spokesperson activities)
  • Serves as a community ambassador/spokesperson as needed

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Two or more years of experience working in nonprofit development, events, community relations, or other related field
  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating and soliciting prospects for donations
  • Self-starter, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience in database maintenance, entering and maintaining current and accurate records in specialized digital platform. (Salesforce experience a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom)
  • Comfortable working in digital media platforms such as e-newsletter mail systems, project management programs, photo storage banks, and graphic design tools. Will train on specific platforms
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and customer service skills; comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends when necessary
  • Must be able to clearly articulate RRFBB’s mission
  • Ability to relate effectively and professionally with other staff, volunteers, agency representatives and the public

  • During events, meetings, and appointments it will be required to move and perform some physical activities related to set-up, tear-down, and both on- and off-site management
