We currently have an opening for a Development Officer responsible for managing the ‘Roadrunner Club’ which are donors who contribute to the organization every month. The position is responsible for attracting and retaining members, stewarding members, tracking and reporting program results, and growing the program to meet annual budget objectives. In collaboration with other key staff, this position will also help to strengthen the “individual giving pipeline” systems that lead annual donors to join the Roadrunner Club and eventually to join the Full Plate Society with a 5-year pledge commitment. This is a full-time, exempt position paying $60K -$62K annually.
Strategy Development
- Establish annual budget goals in consultation with the Chief Development Officer and develop strategies/plan to reach those goals
- Leverage existing relationships in order to create new opportunities by identifying donors with the affinity and capacity to give more
Cultivation and Solicitation
- Responsible for increasing participation in the Roadrunner Club to meet organizational goals
- Recruit Ambassadors to host Food for Thought tours and increase participation in other organizational donor outreach activities
- Recruit Food for Thought tour attendees to the monthly “First Friday” tours and conduct post-tour phone calls
- Regularly make phone calls, send handwritten cards and emails and conduct face-to-face visits to thank, update, cultivate and solicit Roadrunner Club donors utilizing Salesforce Dashboards
- Represent the food bank at a variety of donor cultivation events
Stewardship
- Ensure that donor information is kept current and donor interactions are consistently documented in Salesforce, the organization’s donor management system
- Retain monthly donors and minimize attrition through active follow-up and stewardship efforts including the creation of an effective communication strategy aimed at monthly donors
Interpersonal Communications
- Plan and execute exceptional strategic and analytical interpersonal communication strategies and methods in written and oral forms
- Develop and manage effective solicitation messaging in compliance with the Food Bank’s communications standards and brand identity
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with members of the Development Team for optimal operations and results
- Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with other staff who serve as subject matter experts and content resources to ensure effective and up-to-date messaging for donors
- Provide staffing support to large-scale events, initiatives, groups, and projects that impact the overall development program and/or the entire Food Bank organization (e.g., Souper Bowl, A Place at the Table, major food drives, holiday mobile food distributions, and other events)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of directly related experience to this position
- Minimum of 3 years nonprofit fundraising or sales experience
- Successful experience on the phone in making cold calls
- Successful experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies
- Must be able to travel throughout the state when needed
- Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with the Benevon Fundraising Model
- Experience working with Salesforce, or other donor CRM system
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint

Physical Environment
- Primarily an office environment in front of a computer screen and on the phone
- Occasional exposure to hot and cold temperatures in the warehouse or on outdoor assignments
- Minimal lifting (10-20 lbs)
